Rufio is our youngest family member, born 3/18/15!  Our keeper out of the Buddy x Violet litter, we’re pretty excited about this guy.  Ruf is a very sweet, happy boy who has quickly learned how to “look cute and get treats”.  He debuted at the Richland specialty in Sept where he was awarded Best of Opposite in Puppy Sweeps under breeder judge Marla Gardner, and placed well in his regular Bred-By class over some lovely older dogs. In early 2016 he hit the show ring again and won three straight majors at the Denver cluster!  After sitting out the rest of 2016, we went to the Southern California specialty where he was awarded WD, BOW, Best Bred-By, and Best Owner-Handled under breeder judge Emily Fish, to finish his championship in style.

Rufio’s first 4-point major, 10 months old. Followed up the next 2 days with two more!
Best of Opposite in Sweeps, Sept 2015.  6 months and 1 week old.

So why the name Rufio?  When this litter was born there was a uniquely marked puppy, Rufio’s brother Hook.  That inspired a “Peter Pan” theme for the litter – and the big red brindle boy seemed like he HAD to be named:

Rufio is the leader of the Lost Boys in the 1991 film Hook, played by Dante Basco. He is an original character in this film, commonly remembered for his big, spiked, red-striped hair.”
